A homely boutique studio nestles amidst the Klein Basel area that brings forth a warm space where one can experience the individual attention within a small group. There is a direct and constant contact with the teacher from the time one enrolls in the class. This small space for practice is sufficient to provide peace of mind to any individual who seeks it. The classes provide the feel of a private session since the space accommodates maximum upto 5 individuals and a sense of a comfort stays amongst the students.

Philosophy
The name ‘Maheshwar’ is a tribute to my late great grandfather Mahesh Bhattacharyya, a philanthropist and founder of one of oldest Homoeopathic firms in India and his father, the late Ishwar Bhattacharyya. Hence the word is coined as Maheshwar which is also one of the many names of God Shiva - the Lord and Master of Yoga!

The core philosophy believes to strengthen and build up the innate potentialities to the fullest and hence no competition is encouraged in the classroom because the only person we compete with is ourselves! The teaching style at the studio allows to breathe through every asana at every stage, a balanced selection of postures to bring about ease and challenge in the individual from time to time. The class focuses on simple stretches and intense ones under normal room temperature to keep the intensity of the breath under control.
Opened in November 2016, Maheshwar Yoga is dedicated to traditional practice of ancient and simple practice of Hatha Yoga for students of all fitness levels. Malabika Chatterjee founder, owner and teacher at Maheshwar Yoga endeavors to build a yoga community that shines with immense enthusiasm leading to the attainment of an unwavering mind!
Malabika is a certified Bikram Yoga teacher and received her qualification at the Bikram school of Yoga, Los Angeles,USA in 2008. She is a strong believer in the practice of Hatha-Yoga. ‘Ha’ - the energy of the Sun, and ‘Tha’ - the energy of the Moon come to a balance only through the practice of Yoga.

She is a yoga teacher in Basel teaching since 2016. As a certified teacher under Bikram School of Yoga, Los Angeles, USA. Malabika has taught in different parts of the world including USA, Mexico, and India although the most challenging experience and biggest satisfaction was in teaching the underprivileged poor children of Kolkata, her hometown with Future Hope, a UK- based NGO for 2 years. Teaching Yoga has brought her amongst the different categories of age groups ranging from children to senior people and this indeed has been her opportunity to help them with a renewed sense of enthusiasm towards a healthy way of living life.
Further Malabika graduated with a first class and a gold medal in the stream of Education Honours, Loreto College under Calcutta University. She further pursued her post- graduation in the field of Drama and Theatre Education under the University of Warwick, UK.
